Holy Week was last week; the week in the church year between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. It has always been my favorite part of the church year; with the emotional and impactful texts, the beautiful services, and the haunting traditional melodies. The music-making for this season has always been extremely meaningful for me. In my sacred music ministry this year, being a part of this week and preparing a choir for the services was the experience I missed the most.
One of my favorite moments every year is singing the spiritual "Were You There" on Good Friday, a meditation on the Passion of Jesus. Since we weren't able to gather together in-person for the service last week, I decided to record the song to share with the church.
